Michael Jackson 45s

Happy mothers day, friends! Tell your mother that you love her!

Y'know who else has a mother?

MICHAEL JACKSON.

I've been on a bit of an MJ kick lately. The king of pop has on ocassion, randomly popped up in my life lately. The new Michael movie seems to have give MJ and his music a resurgance in popularity. Hell, Thriller is at NUMBER 7 on the Billboard 200 right now! For an album over 40 years old, that is damn impressive! With this new MJ resurgance, I thought it would be the best time to show of my collection of (mostly Thriller-era) Michael Jackson 45 singles.

Here's the oldest one in my collection so far. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough b/w I Can't Help It from 1979's Off The Wall. I got this one at a Media Reload store for $2.95.

At the time of its release, it was $1.29, that's $5.83 today!

Originally owned by someone named Pam Murdock. Sorry Pam, but these are mine now!

Also from the Murdock record collection, a copy of Devo's Whip It I got the same day.

Even though the man's name is literally ON THE RECORD ITSELF, Ms. Murdock somehow misspelled his name as "Micheal Jackson".

And somehow, she misspelled it TWICE. "Mickeal Jackson"????

Next on the agenda is Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', the opening track of Thriller. Its B-Side is the track's instrumental. Only $1.88, that would be $6.26 today!

Now we go onto The Girl Is Mine, one of MJ's two duets with frenemy Paul McCartney. This is a later reissue, backed with non-album B-Side "Can't Get Outta The Rain". I got this one at a record fair a couple years back.

And of course I had to get the second one! I found this copy of Say Say Say at the same revord fair (though I think it might have been a different year). This one came with the OG picture sleeve too! $1.44 would be $4.71 today!

Here's my copy of Beat It, backed with Off The Wall track Get On The Floor for some reason.

Here's Billie Jean. This also features Can't Get Outta The Rain as the B-Side.

Here's the most recent single I have, Bad from 1987. This is also a picture sleeve copy. $4.57 today, that's almost as much as 3 at Nick's is!
Probably the weirdest thing about this single is the B-Side. Instead of picking a recent track, they chose I Can't Help It from Off The Wall. MJ's style and sound had changed so dramatically between '79 and '87, so I question the choice.

That is all for now. Post about my Misc. 45s coming soon?
