My First TMBG Show: A Memoir

Image
Hey there! Sorry to the one person that gives a shit for the radio silence for much of this month. I just haven't been doing much aside from 1. living in fear because I live in Michigan in July 2026 2. Waiting for Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum to reopen after what feels like a decade To hold you over until something actually interesting happens, here's the story of my first ever TMBG show. I didn't mention it much on here after the fact suprisingly, but here it is finally. Taken directly from my recap on TMBW. "My first ever TMBG show, and what a show it was. I'd been to the venue before (I saw The Aquabats there 6 years prior) so I was sorta familiar with it. This show's theme was LINCOLN!!!! I was hoping it would be either that or Mink Car (which I don't think they're doing this tour). I got so excited when Flans said it was a Lincoln show, I really need to relisten to that album, lol. Before set #1 they played Million Dollar Baby (which ...

A whole buncha CDs + An update on the car

Image
Hello! It's been a while since my last post. Here is all that happened + the CDs I got last month and all of this month's so far. So where we last left off, we were sitting in McDonald's waiting for the tow truck to come. I wrote my last blog post to pass the time. Thankfully the tow truck finally came! An Iraqi guy named Sam was our driver. He'd moved here from Texas because he has family here. He took us and our car to an auto shop. My mom called up her friend to pick us up and she took us back home. Home sweet home! Also, WE GOT A NEW CAR!! With that out of the way, here's some CDs for 'ya! They Might Be Giants - S-E-X-X-Y (Elektra - 1996) This was my first CD of June, I got it on the 4th. Getting this marked my domestically released Elektra singles collection complete! Very excited to have this one. Sensurround is one of their best hidden-gem tracks. I prefer the Power Rangers version in all honesty but i'm still glad to have it on CD in any form. Super...

Bats, Toys & Old Hot Cars: What I have been doing recently

Image
Hello one hello all to another Blog post. Sorry it's Taken so long for me to post again! I've been so caught up in real life and other social medias that my blog is not as big of a priority. Sorry to the single person that gives a shit! On June 17th I saw The Aquabats for the first time in 4 years.  2026 saw their triumphant return to the state of Michigan after not coming since 2022. It was at St Andrews Hall in Detroit, where i'd previously seen my first two Aquabats concerts in 2014 and 2017. It was lightly sprinkling when we got in line. Not too bad, right? Well, we stayed in line for almost 30 MINUTES before they let us in. Doors at 6 PM my ass! While we were in line, the guy behind me thought he saw Jack Black. There were two opening acts this time. The first was Sullvn, who are a ska band from California. Me and my mom enjoyed them. They brought Dicky Barrett from the Mighty Might Bosstones on-stage to perform "The Impression That I Get" and another song I...

The Rise And Fall of a Liverpudlian Macca: What happened to "Dungeon Lane" on Billboard?

Image
Like thousands of other Beatles fans, I was very excited for Paul McCartney's new album, "The Boys of Dungeon Lane", and I got it the day after release (Amazon decided to be a cheeky bastard and not deliver it on release day AS THEY FUCKING PROMISED TO.) It's a good album, I like it. But this week, it's had one of the biggest downfalls i've ever seen one of the Billboard charts.   Last week, it made its debut on the Billboard 200 chart, and peaked at number 5. Very good news, it's always nice to see people listening Macca.  But this week it's at NUMBER 145. Jesus Christ. What the hell happened between then and now? Is there some controversy I don't know about? Do Americans just not like Macca as much anymore? WTF???

Hi Mom

Beatles, Beatles, and more Beatles

Image
Hello to the one person that gives a shit about this blog! Today I went to a local record fair, and I got just three records, all Beatles or Beatles related. Here are all of them! Starting off with the earliest record, it's The Beatles' third US album, Something New! Originally released July 20th, 1964! I got this for only $2!! Can you believe that? This specific copy was pressed at Capitol Records' pressing plant in Scranton, Pennsylvania according to Discogs. This record wasn't a PITA to find on there like all the other ones. There are so many variants of the same pressing of these old Beatles records, you could probably spend a whole day looking for your specific copy on there!  Anyways, where was I? Oh yeah, Something New. This album consists mostly of tracks from the A Hard Day's Night album, which was released by United Artists Records instead of Capitol over here. They had a copy of that album for $14 at the fair, I would've gotten it but it was a bit be...

What My Favorites Have Released This Year

Image
Well it's almost June now, so that means we're about halfway through the year. This year has been kinda sucky for all of us, and one of the few things that give many of us hope is music, especially new releases. Several of my favorites bands have put stuff out in the last 6 months, here is all of it. They Might Be Giants - Eyeball EP (Released January 15th) The hype surrounding this and The World Is To Dig is hype I don't think i'll ever forget. Not counting compilations and live stuff, this was the first new TMBG anything to come out since I became a fan (Became a fan Summer 2024. Last album was BOOK which was 2021.) Eyeball is the best track. Kinda sad they didn't perform it at my show in Detroit :( The other two tracks are decent but not as good as Eyeball imo. The Elegant Too remix of Eyeball is mid. They Might Be Giants (again) - The World Is To Dig (Released April 10th or April 14th, depends on who you ask.) The album everyone's been waiting for. If you th...
