My Music DVDs

Today I just got a new DVD in the mail for my small music DVD collection, so I thought now was the best time to show off my collection on this fine blog.

Starting off are my Beatles DVDs. I have almost all of the original films with the exception of Let It Be as well as some others. The top left DVD in the second pic is a three disc documentary set called "Looking Back at The Beatles", which I got at a Goodwill a couple years ago, what a lucky find! The 1 DVD was a Christmas gift in 2024, and features the videos for all the songs on the 1 album.

I got All Together Now at Family Dollar. It's a documentary about the making of Cirque du Solei's LOVE show in Vegas, which has since ended sadly. Cirque du Solei must be alergic to money, because they've never once released the LOVE show itself on DVD or even streaming/digital download. What's up with that?

I got the final one, Paul McCartney's "The Music And Animation Collection", at a thrift store, featuring three short films scored and/or produced by Paul. I had a copy previously but that one was a shitty library copy. This version was more complete and in better condition.

I'm currently on the hunt for the Anthology boxset (one that isn't a bootleg), Get Back, and the First U.S. Visit DVD.

Next up is my tiny Michael Jackson collection. Here's the first one I got, 2003's Number Ones. This was also a lucky Goodwill find. It's similar in concept to The Beatles' 1 disc in that it features all the videos for the tracks on the Number Ones album (except for Ben live and One More Chance). It may not be 4k but it's always great to have all these iconic videos all in one place.

And here's the second. Live In Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour from 2005. This was a lucky book sale find for only a quarter or two. This is a concert video of what else, but of MJ's Bucharest concert during the Dangerous tour on October 1st, 1992. This was originally an HBO special and is one of only three MJ concerts officially released on DVD.

I'm currently on the hunt for a copy of the Michael Jackson's Vision three disc set, which features ALL the videos, as well as a copy of the Moonwalker movie.

Up next are DVDs of my favorite band: THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS!!! These are some of my favorite discs currently in the music DVD collection. Here Come The ABC's has sentimental value to me, as it's how I was introduced to TMBG in the first place.

Venue Songs is a CD/DVD combo, featuring songs about all the venues they performed at during their 2004 Spine On The Highway tour. The DVD is a program featuring videos of 11 of the 32 Venue Songs written, + the videos from The Spine/The Spine Surfs Alone.

Them Ain't Big Eye Ants is actually a mispressing. It was initially rush-released to meet a Christmas 2012 deadline, and because of it they fucked up in some places (ie wrong aspect ratios, the "I'm Impressed" video appearing TWO SEPERATE TIMES, etc.) It really doesn't affect the viewing experience for me, but it would be nice to have the corrected version.

(Also in my collection but not pictured, the Here Come The 123's and Here Comes Science DVDs.)

Not counting internal/promo discs, I believe the only one I'm missing is the Gigantic: A Tale of Two Johns DVD which I'm hoping to get soon. They've made many videos before and since TABEA that arent on DVD, You're On Fire, Get Down Stuff Is Way, Boss Of Me, hell even Rabid Child. I hope we get another TMBG DVD someday!

Next on the agenda, IT'S THE AQUABATS!!! The Serious Awesomeness DVD is two discs of what I believe are The Aquabats at their best, especially on disc 2. Disc 1 features a full concert, a short documentary, and some music videos. Disc 2 is dedocated entirely to Sweet Clips That RIP! They really do rip!

When I saw the Aquabats Super Show complete series set on the Gloopy site, I knew I just HAD to preorder it. It took a while to get here but it did! The Super Show was high on my list of "Shows I want to see a complete series release of", and thankfully, we got one! Technicallt the full series was out there on physical, but on two completely different formats. Season 1 was released by Shout! Factory, but only on DVD. Season 2 was self released, only on Blu-Ray. So if you wanted Season 1 on Blu-Ray and vice versa, you were out of luck, at least until this came out.

I'm currently on the hunt for the tongue-in-cheek (Though some artists have done it unironically) 1 year anniversary edition of Charge!!, a two disc affair with a DVD featuring a music video, a documentary, and a whole bunch of other fun crap.

Here's what might actually be one of the luckiest finds in my collecting career, it's season 1 of The Monkees! I got this at Disc Replay for like $3 or $4. This goes for anywhere from $60 to $100 on eBay by the way.

I'm currently on the hunt for season 2 to go along with it, + a copy of the Head movie.

Here's my most recent, which I got just today. It's Songbook: The Singles, Vol. 1 by the Welsh group Super Furry Animals. Like 1 and Number Ones before it, it's the DVD version of a greatest hits album, featuring all of the track's music videos. Very excited to watch it!

I'm currently on the hunt for the DVD versions of their albums Rings Around The World and Phantom Power.

This post took way too damn long to make, so I hope you enjoyed.
