Various Artist They Might Be Giants CDs

A little while ago I began a collection of various artist They Might Be Giants albums to compliment my already gigantic (ba dum ts) TMBG CD collection. It's pretty small but here it is so far.

Starting off with the earliest of the bunch, it's the Rubáiyát: Elektra's 40th Anniversary album from 1990, celebrating what else, but Elektra's 40th anniversary. So far the only original contribution album in my collection which is a bit of a shame. I'd love to get more of them! TMBG contribution to this is "One More Parade" which was originally by Phil Ochs (AKA The one that married Marvin Gaye in that one song) from 1964. I got this one at a 2nd & Charles back in November, only $5.95! Aside from TMBG, this album also features tracks by The Cure, Metallica, Tracy Chapman, The Sugarcubes, 10,000 Maniacs and more.

The second earliest is Never Mind The Mainstream: The Best Of MTV's 120 Minutes, Vol. 1 released by Rhino in 1991. The TMBG track featured is "Ana Ng", which at the time was old news compared to the material on Flood and ESPECIALLY the upcoming Apollo 18 (not saying it's a bad song tho!)

This was a hand-me-down from my mother's CD collection. This album also features tracks by Sinéad O'Connor, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sonic Youth, XTC, and more.

Next up is Carmen Sandiego - Out Of This World from 1994. The TMBG song featured here is "Why Does The Sun Shine?" Which isn't particularly a favorite of mine. This was a tie in to the Carmen Sandiego TV series (which I never watched) but I still got it anyway because TMBG. Only a couple bucks at the Salvation Army.

The final CD is the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse soundtrack, originally released in 2007. This is an early 2010's reprint but I'm not exactly sure when this came out (but 2011-2012 is my guess). The TMBG contributions on this CD are the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme and Hot Dog, arguably their most well known work PERIOD. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse was HUGE back in the day, and was shown in a bunch of countries. Church sale find that I only got because TMBG. But unlike Carmen Sandiego, I did watch MMC as a kid. I just dont have as big of a connection to it to keep it in my collection aside from "it has TMBG on it".
