The Wiggles Concert That Time Forgot
Do you ever just forget that you did something one time, then see a picture or two a few years later and react like "Wait, that happened?" That's basically what happened to me.
Back in the day, whenever the live production of a show I liked came to town, i'd probably go see it. Yo Gabba Gabba, Sesame Street, Thomas the tank engine, even Sid the effin' Science Kid! But there was one group I saw more times than any of these. While not nesecarily the "live production of a kids show" like the others, but I knew them mostly from TV. I'm of course talking about The Wiggles.
I first came across the Wiggles back when PBS Kids Sprout was airing their TV shows back in the day (Which I talked about in a previous blog post). While I wasn't as big of a Wiggles kid as I was for Yo Gabba Gabba, it was defnitely a top 5 favorite show for me at the time. I think it might have been #2 on my list actually.
Back in the 2000's and early 2010's, The Wiggles were a big thing. And by big I mean "12 consecutive sold out shows at Madison Square Garden" big.
I saw the Wiggles for (what I thought was) the first time in 2012. It was at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan. And no, Ron Artest did not run into the stands at this show.
It was the final show of the original guys, Greg Jeff and Murray, in Michigan.
The second time was at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, this show was with the (at the time) new guys Lachy and Simon and new girl Emma.
But then a few weeks back, I decided to look through some boxes of old stuff. My mom often kept the ticket stubs of the shows that we went to as mementos. I decided to go looking in a box dated 2011, when I saw something very peculiar: Wiggles tickets stubs for a concert at the Palace of Auburn Hills. From the year BEFORE what I thought was my first concert. I didn't remember this concert AT ALL. I had some questions in my head, like "Why don't I remember this?", "Did we even go?", "Why didn't we save ANYTHING?", etc.
I decided to ask my mon about it. The conversation went sorta as follows:
Me: I found these. No memory of it at all. Did we even go?
Mom: Yes.
So yeah I saw the Wiggles when Sam was apart of the group apparently, so that's cool. I watched the OGs with Greg of course but Sam was the one I remember watching more. Sam was still a current member when I was born, and Sprout aired his episodes the most, and only aired those until like 2011 or so. We really liked Sam.
Since I was barely concious at this time, the main way I remember stuff like this is by my mom saving stuff from it. Taking pictures, saving our ticket stubs, buying merch, etc. My mom saved quite a bit from the kid's concerts I went to, but for some reason she saved NOTHING from this one aside from our stubs which haven't seen the light of day in years. And since we saved nothing, I basically forgot all about it. That is my theory as to why I forgot.
Someone even took videos! So why didn't my mom do the same?
Not sure which show these are from since there were two that day.

Sam is my favorite wiggle!
